The History of Racism Series on BBC

***The staff of the Jim Crow Museum receives dozens of letters and emails. Some of these communiques offer insight into race relations -- historically and in the present. While some are hateful, we have decided to share some of these letters and emails with our Internet visitors.***

Dr. Pilgrim,

Your presentation on Saturday, was absolutely awesome. I hope to get the opportunity to visit your museum in the very near future.  The videos that I'm forwarding to you were sent by Richard Smiley, one of the original "Foot Soldiers" from Selma Alabama.

Sincerely,
Frankie

This is a most interesting series that was shown on BBC around 2007; I don't think many outside Britain saw it. It is a series that all people should view and discuss with others of different races. Discussions emanating from these videos (each is only around 10 minutes in length) will illuminate and explain contemporary socio/political/economic realities in easily understood terms and images. These videos especially should be viewed in schools. Young people who probably will not read about this history will learn a lot from viewing the videos, especially if they are followed by intelligent discussions so show them to your students, children, and others.
